WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE…

It’s with much-awaited enthusiasm and excitement that we’re announcing our new team name. We are the Black Bears!

We’d like to thank Adam Feldman of Northfield for suggesting the new name and an honorary mention goes to Jason Gerrish who recommended “The Ice Bears.” We believe the strong Vermont ties to the animal’s natural habitat make the name relatable to our youth hockey players. It’s a strong animal with keen senses (did you know that Black Bears’ sense of smell is 7 times more sensitive than dogs?) and while the real animal may hibernate in the winter, that’s when our CVYH Black Bears gear up for the rink!

Black Bear apparel will be available closer to the start of the season. Show your support on social media by using the hashtag #VTBlackBears

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR THE 2022-2023 HOCKEY SEASON!

We are excited for the season ahead and we believe the unification of our four clubs’ resources will allow us to grow the game of hockey in Central Vermont. Together, we can improve the development experience and increase the opportunities available to players while keeping youth hockey affordable, and inclusive in our communities.

One of the first steps in setting up our aligned season is getting registration underway! There is a lot of information housed in the registration itself, but a few items to highlight:

  • Registration deadline, for 8U travel, 10U, 12U and 14U is July 22nd! This is to accommodate the planning of tryouts beginning the following week and for jersey ordering!
  • This merger will offer top tier co-ed and regular co-ed teams at the 8U, 10U, 12U & 14U levels and girls only teams at 10U, 12U & 14U. Details inside the registration on what to expect from each level.
  • Tryouts are happening soon! They are scheduled for in the last week in July and first two weeks in August. Schedule of times and location details are included in registration. Your player must be registered with CVYH to participate in tryouts! (Dates are 7/27, 8/3 and 8/10 dependent on what level your player(s) is at. Your player must attend at least one tryout.
  • Tuition costs this year include a game jersey and socks, for you to keep, with your players name on the back! It is important that you fill out the jersey sizing and sock sizing at registration. Additionally, we are asking players to give their top 5 number choices. CVYH will do our best to accommodate number selections – but do understand, this is being done on a first come first serve based. You can find sizing of jerseys and socks below.

Thank You!

The CVYH Registration Committee

CENTRAL VERMONT HOCKEY MERGER

CENTRAL VERMONT HOCKEY MERGER

It’s with great enthusiasm and excitement that the Barre Youth Sports Hockey (Blades and Black Hawks), Central Vermont Skating Association (Capitals), Harwood Youth Hockey Association (Highlanders), and Northfield Amateur Hockey Association (North Stars and Blizzard) announce their merger to form the Central Vermont Youth Hockey beginning with the 2022-23 season!

We believe the unification of our four clubs’ resources will allow us to grow the game of hockey in Central Vermont. Together, we can improve the development experience and increase the opportunities available to players while keeping youth hockey affordable, and inclusive in our communities.

As we work through this adjustment, you will undoubtedly have a lot of questions and we will work diligently to provide answers as we have them. We thank you in advance for your assured support and patience while we’re creating and organizing all of the opportunities that the CVYH will offer our youth athletes. To see a complete list of all the merger benefits and updated FAQs, visit www.cvhockey.org.

Also, we are accepting ideas for our new team name! From now until June 24th submit your ideas at www.cvhockey.org. The new name will be announced in early July. You could be part of CVYH history with your name idea!
